This renovation resulted in a dramatic transformation without the expense of completely replacing the kitchen cabinetry. The wall separating the kitchen and living room was removed, creating a spacious open-concept kitchen, casual dining and living room space. Most of the existing cabinetry was preserved and refreshed with minor finish touch-ups, a fresh clear coat and new hardware. The refrigerator was moved to the opposite side of the kitchen and surrounded by new cabinetry custom built to match the existing cabinets. A new island was installed, and the smaller one it replaced was repurposed for garage storage. Sleek new black granite countertops and a custom tiled backsplash were installed. Skylights were added in the living room to bring in more light, and new custom millwork and light hardwood flooring were installed throughout the space and the adjacent sitting room. Wieser Cabinets of Plymouth provided the custom cabinetry, flooring was provided by Precision Floors & Décor of Plymouth, and Schwallers Painting & Staining of Elkhart Lake performed the cabinet refinishing and painting of walls and millwork.
