The second floor addition to Tom and Katie Benson’s Craftsman style vacation home in Elkhart Lake started with their need for an upstairs bathroom, but quickly developed into a much larger project. Paceline Construction raised the roof line on the back of the house and extended the second floor footprint by more than four feet to accommodate a spacious new master bedroom and bath that the family now enjoys. New windows provide energy efficiency, plenty of light and a nice cross-breeze upstairs, and Katie now has a lovely view of her wooded backyard to watch her kids play.
The Bensons are very pleased with the craftsmanship and careful attention paid to maintaining the architectural integrity of the home, with period appropriate design and materials, and matching of existing woodwork details like trim and moldings. The design also included much needed storage. “Tony was very intuitive about things we didn’t even know that we needed.”
“We are so happy with the end result,” shares Katie. “It’s as nice as or nicer than we could have expected.”
